About the author

Edward Paul Cornet is a PhD Physicist whose initial research on advanced nuclear power systems and highly classified defense applications of emerging technologies led to a twenty-year career as a partner and Board member of the international management consulting firm Booz Allen & Hamilton advising government and commercial businesses on major investments in advanced technologies.

The first ten years of his professional career were spent doing DOD and NASA scientific and engineering contract research on advanced power systems, satellite design and advanced weapon systems.  He then joined Booz Allen Hamilton starting a new management consulting area advising international commercial companies on large investments in advanced technologies including mobile phone networks, automated light-rail train systems and satellite systems for personal phones and television broadcasts.   Over twenty years with the firm he became a managing director, serving five years as a Board member or Board Committee chair.  Major clients included Motorola, Lockheed, Leonardo, Raytheon, Telecom Italia, Etisalat, Iridium, Sprint, Docklands, New York Transit Authority, Intelsat and Eutelsat.

Upon retirement from Booz Allen he joined the faculty of the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where for six years he led the Management Consulting concentration teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Business Strategy Development and Strategy Implementation.  While at Carolina he founded the STAR Program, Student Teams Achieving Results, guiding student teams to help more than forty North Carolina companies develop new strategies and processes to combat changing competitive dynamics.  The program is on-going.
